Head over to the official Pakistan Railways portal (pak-railways.gov.pk) or grab their mobile application. Once registered, search for your preferred route, pick your seats, and complete payment using a debit card, credit card, or popular mobile wallets such as JazzCash and Easypaisa. The entire process typically takes under five minutes.

Dial 117 — it's the nationwide railway helpline available around the clock. You can also contact regional offices directly: Karachi Division (021-99213012), Lahore Division (042-99211080), Rawalpindi Division (051-9270831), or Peshawar Division (091-9212037) for location-specific inquiries.

For long-distance express services, aim to be at the station 30 to 45 minutes before departure. Local and short-haul trains usually need 15–20 minutes. If you're traveling in reserved AC class, you have a bit more flexibility since your seat is guaranteed, but early arrival always helps avoid last-minute stress.

Yes — cancellations are processed at any booking counter. Your refund depends on timing: if you cancel more than 24 hours before departure, you'll receive a full refund minus a small service fee. Cancellations within 24 hours get about 50% back, and once the train has left, refunds are generally not available.

Pakistani citizens need their CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) both for booking and during the journey. When purchasing online, you'll enter your CNIC number during registration. International visitors should carry a valid passport with a Pakistani visa.

Most services allow ticket purchases up to 30 days ahead of the travel date. For high-demand corridors — especially Karachi to Lahore during holidays and festivals — booking as early as possible is strongly recommended to secure your preferred class and berth.

Absolutely! Students with valid educational ID enjoy a 50% discount. Senior citizens aged 60 and above receive a 25% reduction. Infants under 3 years travel free without a separate seat, while children aged 3 to 12 qualify for half-price tickets.

Unreserved tickets are limited to economy class, where seating works on a first-come, first-served basis. There's no assigned seat, so popular routes can get crowded. If you want a guaranteed, assigned seat, opt for a reserved-class ticket when booking.

Missed trains are generally non-refundable. However, depending on availability and at the station master's discretion, you may be allowed to use your ticket on the next train covering the same route within 24 hours. This isn't guaranteed, so punctuality is always the safest bet.

The free baggage allowance varies by class: Economy passengers can carry up to 40 kg, Business class allows 50 kg, and AC class travelers enjoy a 60 kg limit. Anything beyond these limits may incur surcharges. Oversized items like bicycles or large packages need separate booking in the luggage van.

Most express trains feature a pantry car serving freshly prepared meals, snacks, chai, and cold beverages. If you're traveling in AC Business or Parlor class, complimentary meal service is often included in the ticket price. On shorter routes, vendors at major station stops also offer a variety of local food.

WiFi is not yet standard across the fleet. It's a good idea to download movies, music, or reading material before you board. Most passengers rely on their personal mobile data — 4G coverage is reasonably good along the Main Line corridor through major cities.

Every train has onboard restrooms. Air-conditioned coaches generally feature Western-style flush toilets, while economy coaches may have squat-style facilities. Pro tip: carry your own tissues and hand sanitizer, as supplies can run out on longer journeys.

AC coaches are typically fitted with power outlets near the seats, making it easy to keep devices charged. Economy class has fewer charging points, and they can be in high demand. For extended journeys, bringing a portable power bank is a smart precaution.

RailTracking.pk taps into Pakistan Railways' live GPS infrastructure to display real-time positions for all active trains. Just search for your train by number or name, and you'll see its current coordinates, travelling speed, and predicted arrival times at each upcoming station — all updated continuously.

We source data directly from the official Pakistan Railways GPS network, with position updates arriving every 30 to 60 seconds. Typical accuracy is within 100 to 500 meters, though it may fluctuate slightly in areas with weak satellite reception such as tunnels or mountainous terrain.

There are a few common reasons: the train may not have departed from its origin station yet, the onboard GPS hardware might be temporarily offline, or the service may not operate on that particular day of the week. Cross-reference with the schedule page to confirm that the train is running.

You can monitor delay status in real-time through our live tracking dashboard. We display current delay duration for every running train. For the latest status, simply visit the tracking page and search for your train — the delay information is prominently displayed alongside estimated arrival times.
